Barbara Tewksbury has taught geology at Hamilton College in Clinton,
NY since 1978 and currently holds the Stephen Harper Kirner Chair of Science
at the College. She has served on the Executive Committee of the National
Association of Geoscience Teachers since 1992 and was President of the
organization in 1996-97. She was President of the Geology Division of the
Council on Undergraduate Research from 1991 to 1994. Barb has spoken internationally
on innovative course design and on strategies for creating effective learning
environments in the classroom. In 1997, the Carnegie Foundation for the
Advancement of Teaching named her New York State Professor of the Year.
