Comments: The Sea Floor Samples Laboratory holds more than 13,500 mixed deep-ocean geological samples. These include piston cores, gravity and box cores, dredges, grabs, and the largest collection of DSRV ALVIN samples in the world. All the samples in the collection are described and cataloged, and rest in sortable data bases, where unique parameters for each sample type can be specified in a SQL search. Included in the collection are thousands of smear slides and thin sections related to our sample holdings.
