Comments: The Utah Geological Survey Sample Library contains cuttings from 3,000 drill holes, core from 300 drill holes, oil samples from all producing formations in the state, coal samples from producing coal mines, and samples from miscellaneous metallic mineral, industrial-rock and mineral, tar-sand, oil-shale, geothermal-well, and stratigraphic sections.

The Sample Library is a research facility, which is available for sample examination and core workshops and classes. Sample examination equipment is provided. Core sawing and photography are available as additional services. Cores and cuttings can also be shipped to clients.
