EDUCATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Function

The Education Advisory Committee provides guidance to the Education and Human Resources staff in its efforts to further the aims and methods of geoscience education at all levels. The advisory committee makes recommendations about AGI's education initiatives to the Executive Committee and provides information on related geoscience matters.

Responsibilities

Promote public awareness of the importance of geoscience by evaluating and furthering the aims of earth-science education at all levels.
Recommend means for meeting AGI's education goals by generating materials and utilizing human resources, including women and ethnic minority students in the geosciences.
Review existing educational programs and budget and, if necessary, recommend interim education budget and program changes for future implementation.
