GEOSCIENCE WORKFORCE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Function
The Geoscience Workforce Advisory Committee assists the AGI Education
and Human Resources staff in collecting, evaluating, and distributing
geoscience human-resources information. AGI reports are developed
to describe the student population, work force, employment opportunities
and trends, and salary ranges. The committee provides an annual
report to the Executive Committee.
Responsibilities
- Assist the staff in determining sources of human-resources
information.
- Review data, analyses, and reports.
- Share information with AGI member societies.
- Assure that timely reports are made available to member societies,
the media, and human-resources professionals.
- Provide assistance on AGI's current human-resources publications
and develop ideas for others. Current publications include the
following:
- Directory of Geoscience Departments
- Geoscience Student Enrollment Survey
- Geoscience Employment and Hiring Survey
- Guide to Geoscience Departments in the United
States & Canada
- International Directory of Geoscience Organizations
- North American Survey of Geoscientists
- Survey of Faculty Salaries
