Welcome LetterWelcome to the EarthComm: Earth's Dynamic Geosphere Implementation project! This project is part of a collaborative effort to support the teaching and learning of earth science in Los Angeles high schools. Support for this program comes from ChevronTexaco, the LAUSD, the American Geological Institute (AGI), and It's About Time Publishing. The goal of the program is to enhance teacher and student understanding of earth science content in support of attainment of California standards for science content knowledge and skills. Components of the program offered to each team of teachers include:
Over the three day workshop you will become familiar with the activities, content and instructional strategies of the Geosphere module, learn how to use the teacher guide and EarthComm web site to supplement your understanding of earth science content, and learn about the evaluation system for this project. Myrna Estrada is serving as lead LAUSD contact. AGI staff assigned to the project include Laura Middaugh, and Ann Benbow. Benchmarks for evaluation and success established for this program are outlined in a letter of commitment, which we ask that you sign and return today. We welcome your questions during the workshop and throughout your teaching of EarthComm. |
