The Challenge of Assessing Technological Literacy

Greg Pearson

This poster will provide the history and progress of an ongoing NSF-funded study at the National Academy of Engineering and National Research Council that is examining approaches for assessing technological literacy in the United States. The project is a follow-on effort to the report, Technically Speaking: Why All Americans Need to Know More About Technology (National Academies Press, 2002). The poster session will highlight some of the unique challenges to assessing technological literacy in students, teachers, and the public at large.

This project is supported by the National Science Foundation (Grant No. ESI-0352345). Any opinion, findings, and conclusions or recommendations expressed in this material are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the views of the National Science Foundation.
