Cheryl Rectanus

Cheryl Rectanus coordinates the middle school mathematics program for Portland Public Schools, Oregon. She has 17 years experience as an educator in the elementary and middle grades in California and Oregon. During that time Cheryl participated in a variety of curriculum projects and leadership positions. In her current role she coordinates professional development and provides support for middle school mathematics teachers and administrators.

Cheryl is a consultant for Marilyn Burns Education Associates, an organization dedicated to improving the teaching of mathematics through providing professional development services of the highest quality, including inservice and publications, to teachers, administrators, and the general public.

She is also the author of two books for teachers: Math By All Means, Geometry for Grades 3 & 4, and Math By All Means: Area and Perimeter for Grades 5 & 6. Cheryl is currently at work on her third publication, tentatively titled, “So You Have To Teach Math? Sound Advice for Middle School Teachers.”
