Geoscience and Public Policy! What is a congressional science fellowship? The American Geosciences Institute provides an outreach opportunity for organizations interested in the interaction between geoscience and government. AGI's current and former congressional science fellows are available to speak at geoscience society meetings and university geoscience departments. Through this program, former fellows have spoken at university departmental colloquia, local and regional geoscientific society meetings and other similar venues. The AGI Foundation, which sponsors the fellowship, has provided limited matching travel funds to support outreach by former Congressional Fellows. Typically, AGI covers air transportation and the host organization covers lodging and local travel arrangements.
