Robert W. Ridky

Robert W. Ridky is a professor in the Department of Geology at the University
of Maryland, College Park. Over the past twenty five years, he has
directed numerous national curriculum and teacher development programs
including, most recently, the NSF supported Joint Education Initiative
- a cooperative program with the U.S.G.S. implementing the use of geoscience
data sets in earth systems instruction. He is the immediate past Program
Director, Division of Undergraduate Education/Geosciences at the National
Science Foundation. He has been active in numerous leadership roles
in numerous professional organizations including President of the National
Association of Geology Teachers, Chair of the Geoscience Education Division
of the Geological Society of America,
and the geoscience representative to the National
Research Council’s National Science Education Standards Committee.
