Meeting Announcement:
As you may be aware, the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) has issued a request for input (RFI) regarding enhancing public access to archived publications resulting from research funded by Federal science and technology agencies. http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2009/pdf/E9-29322.pdf. We suspect this will impact most AGI Member Societies. Therefore, on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at 1:00 EST AGI will host a web conference to facilitate discussion among its Member Societies.
The initial comment period for the RFI will wrap up Phase III on January 7 with input on Compliance, Evaluation of success, and the Roles of public-private partnerships in public access. A two-week extension of the discussion period (to January 21st ) has been announced to allow OSTP to revisit all three focus areas and request more details in specific areas. http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2009/E9-30725.htm.
