From 1972 to 2012, the American Geosciences Institute has administered the Minority Participation Program Student Scholarships, which made it the longest running minority program in the Geosciences. We would like to celebrate the great success that MPP has had over the years and recognize the great impact it has had on the geoscience community. The goal for this program was to develop the professional corps of underrepresented ethnic-minority students in the geosciences. Recipients of AGI Geoscience Student Scholarships were provided with small financial awards and matched with a mentor from the geoscience community to foster whole professional development of the awardee.
