The American Geological Institute (AGI) is making the search for hard-to-find earth-science documents easier than ever before with secure on-line ordering from its GeoRef Document Delivery Service (GeoRef DDS). Customers charging their orders to VISA or MasterCard can now place their orders through AGI's web site using the Secure GeoRef DDS Order Form at http://www.agiweb.org/georef/dds.html.
The GeoRef DDS was established in 1984 and provides photocopies of earth-science documents and maps available from the U.S. Geological Survey library in Reston, Va., the Library of Congress, and the AGI library as well as through several exchange partners located outside the United States. Regular orders are filled within 5 to 7 working days and are sent by first-class mail. Rush requests are filled within 24 hours and are sent by Federal Express. In addition to providing copies of journal articles, book chapters, government reports, and papers from conference proceedings, the GeoRef DDS assists its users in obtaining copies of theses, dissertations, and maps.
Secure on-line ordering simplifies the ordering process, particularly for new customers who don't yet have an account with GeoRef DDS. By providing credit card information at the time they place their orders, new customers avoid delays associated with verification of credit references and phone calls from DDS staff members to obtain required information.
Just visit the GeoRef Document Delivery Service web site and click on "Place a GeoRef Document Delivery Service Order (Secure Transaction)" to complete an order form. Credit card numbers included on this form are securely transmitted to Document Delivery Service staff members. For details, visit http://www.agiweb.org/georef/dds.html or contact Pam Dupree at AGI.
