Comments: Core/sample services include archiving (sampling
by special request to the State Geologist). Other services include
data searches, oil- and gas-well overlay maps (7.5-minute), water-well
overlay maps, geological publications, and topographic and geologic
maps. Data searches are requested through staff members.
The Office of Geologic Information archives approximately 150,000
oil- and gas-well records. About 30% to 40% of these contain e-logs.
Most records are now computerized.
Information is also available on 39,000 water wells, 800 springs,
330 dye traces, and 18,000 water-quality analyses.
The Office of Geologic Information has access to 3,200 coal-quality
analyses, 30,000 coal-thickness data points, and logs for 4,500
cores in the Eastern Kentucky Coal Field and 2,700 cores in the
Western Kentucky Coal Field.
Data can be provided on diskette or magnetic tape, in addition
to hard copy.
