Center Services Provided: Core/Sample Services, Data Packages, Regional to Field Level Studies, Basic and Applied Research, Continuing Education, Public Service Geographic Areas of Holdings, by type and media:
Comments: More than 40,000 feet of core and cuttings from over 600 wells are archived at the Michigan Basin Core Research Laboratory. Services include standard archiving, layout, photography, sampling and description. Individuals may examine cores and cuttings at the Laboratory with 1 to 2 days advanced notice. The Michigan Basin Core Research Laboratory also archives approximately 45,000 oil-and-gas well records. Drillers’ reports, completion reports, geochemical analyses and DST/Pressure test data are also available. Most files contain e-logs. Searchable data bases are maintained on-line for individual use with no access fees. Specific/specialized data searches may be requested through staff members. The Laboratory maintains a geo-technical library that includes basic references to the latest professional journals. The professional staff, with over 50 years combined experience in state, national and international oil and gas exploration, production and research is available to consult for particular questions or core descriptions, or to perform regional to field level geological studies. Basic and applied research is ongoing at the Core Lab. Short-term office space and facilities can be provided (with prior arrangements) for visiting researchers. Serving as the Michigan Center for the Petroleum Technology Transfer Council (PPTC), the Michigan Basin Core Research Laboratory offers low-cost, cutting-edge workshops focused on environmentally sound methods of recovering by-passed reserves at reduced costs. |
