Comments: USM GeoData has substantial holdings of cuttings, cores, electric logs, and scout tickets for Mississippi wells, as well as electric logs for Alabama, Louisiana, and Texas.

Current practice is to assist investigators on either an informal no-cost basis or on a contract basis if significant assistance is required.

Cuttings and cores are now housed in an on-campus warehouse. GeoData is currently negotiating with university administrators to obtain a larger room to serve as a dedicated data depository, and with private sources to fund renovation and staffing.

The core collection includes a few hundred feet of Tuscaloosa and Smackover cores, plus 24,000 feet of deep-sea cores and a 6,000-foot core from Massachusetts.
