All of the historical data in the library have been donated by oil companies and individuals. The library purchases new data for the members to work with. The membership consists of about 200 geologists, geophysicists, paleontologists, engineers, landpersons, and geotechs. The library, organized in 1984-85, covers more than 18,590 square feet on two floors of the Midland American Bank Building. The library also has offsite storage for some of the donations to be merged into the present data system.
