Limited production data are available. The recently (1996) published "Atlas of Major Appalachian Gas Plays," available from the Survey, provides field and reservoir studies and data. Custom data retrievals can be made from the Survey's database.

The Survey is actively engaged in a GIS program, which, when completed, will result in full digital topographic base coverage for most of West Virginia. The Survey's ESIC office maintains aerial and satellite coverage, as well as historic topographic maps.

The West Virginia Geologic and Economic Survey's data repository consists of three parts: 1) paper copies of well records, location plots, well-spot maps, and well logs; 2) a digital data base of completion, location, stratigraphy, pays, production, and header information; and 3) a core and sample repository. Many of the records and all of the wireline logs are also available on microfilm and microfiche.
