Fairfield Industries' Data Services Division focuses its domestic 3D seismic operations in a niche market in the Gulf of Mexico where its technical expertise and assets are optimized. This niche is the highly prospective shallow water/transition zone which extends from the beach out to approximately 70 feet of water depth offshore Louisiana and Texas. High quality non-exclusive 3D seismic data is available for licensing in any of the areas as indicated on maps.

GEO Information Systems is a Research Department of the Sarkeys Energy Center. Geo Information Systems (GeoSystems) has a long history of building quality geoscience databases and applications for both the public and the private sectors. GeoSystems was originally established in 1962 as the Oil Information Center, and has been under the direction of the Sarkeys Energy Center Director since 1988. From its beginning as a repository of usable and practical oil-oriented information, departmental expertise evolved into areas of computer processing, database development, and applications development that includes a current emphasis on mapping and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). With these capabilities, GeoSystems has developed strong ties with federal and state agencies, the petroleum industry, and other private and public-sector organizations as well as the academic research community.
One of the services introduced by GeoSystems in early 1998 is the Spatial Calculator. This service provides tools that calculate the latitude and longitude coordinates for any Oklahoma location, based on that location's legal description (township, range, section, quarter sections, and/or footage calls). One can calculate these points one at a time through a Single Point Converter, or thousands at a time through the Batch Processing Utility. The calculated coordinates are interpolations from the section corners' latitudes and longitudes, as identified in a 1:24,000 land grid database provided by Topographic Mapping Company of Oklahoma City. User can choose either NAD27 or NAD83 to calculate points.

The Census Bureau provides several free data files via their TIGER® System. TIGER comes from the acronym Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing which is the name for the system and digital data base developed at the Census Bureau to support its mapping needs for the Decennial Census and other Bureau programs. TIGER provides support for the following:
The Census Bureau releases periodic extracts of their data base to the public, these extracts are known as the TIGER/Line® files. The most recent version is TIGER/Line® 1995.
The Census Customer Services (phone 301-457-4100) organization handles information on data products & ordering information for computer tapes, CD-ROM's, microfiche & some publications). Users can fax to 301-457-4714 for general information. For ordering (only) use phone 1-800-249-7295 or via e-mail orders@census.gov
The NGDRS uses the TIGER System to obtain latitude/longitude coordinates for the center of a county and the name of the same county.

The Petroleum Technology Transfer Council (PTTC) was formed in 1994 by the U.S. oil and natural gas exploration and production (E&P) industry. The PTTC serves as the national clearinghouse to identify and transfer technology for the benefit of the domestic oil and natural gas industry.
PTTC transfers upstream E&P technologies to help domestic producers reduce costs, improve operating efficiency, increase ultimate recovery, enhance environmental compliance, and add new oil and gas reserves. The Program identifies producers' priority technical problems and communicates them to the R&D community. PTTC serves as an integrated clearinghouse for E&P technology information but it does not perform or fund R&D.
As part of PTTC Eastern Gulf Region
efforts, a project entitled "Bibliography, Geophysical Data
Locations, and Well Core Listings for the Mississippi Interior
Salt Basin" was completed in 1997. The materials for the
project were prepared by the Basin Research Group, Department
of Geology, University of Alabama, in cooperation with the Geological
Survey of Alabama, Mississippi Office of Geology, of the Petroleum
Technology Transfer Council. The project, sponsored by Office of
Fossil Energy, U.S. Department of Energy (under Project No.DE-FG22-96BC14946),
generated a database of information
containing well data, well log data, cores and samples for the
Alabama portion of the Mississippi
Interior Salt Basin. The web pages listing the Alabama data can
be found at the following site: http://egrpttc.geo.ua.edu/pttc/reports/smacko1/wells1.html. It is this database that is implemented by the
NGDRS system.
