The Directory of Geoscience Departments, 40th Edition, provides an alphabetical
listing of 1,009 geoscience departments, including those in 28 museums
and 63 research departments and institutes. Of the 940 U.S. geoscience
departments listed, 779 grant degrees, 24 are in museums, and 62 are in
research departments or institutes. Canada's listing of 61 geoscience
departments includes 52 that are degree-granting and four within museums;
one is a research department/institute. Seven Mexican degree-granting
geoscience departments and one research department/institute are listed as
well. The DGD also includes listings of U.S. state geological surveys,
field-camp information, and faculty e-mail addresses. New this year are the
following features: departments that are AGI Academic Associates; the year of
the most recent departmental update; the most recent enrollments and degrees
granted; expanded listing of federal agencies that employ or are of interest
to geoscientists; and AGI and AGI Member Society staff listings.
