Tellus Science Museum seeks
a Curator/Registrar who will oversee the Museum's varied collection of
over 17,000 objects, including minerals, rocks, fossils, flight and
space materials and scientific equipment.
This mid-level museum management position will supervise the
acquisition, maintenance, care, documentation, preservation, and use of
the collections owned or on loan to the Museum, and serve as subject matter
expert in the fields of geology, specifically mineralogy, petrology and
paleontology. Master's degree in
geology, with in-depth knowledge of mineralogy and paleontology, or
related field and/or two years museum experience, or an equivalent
combination of education and experience a must.
Ph.D. and experience in a
non-profit organization a plus.
Basic knowledge of registration methods, artifact handling, accepted
preservation/conservation techniques, and database management.
