Robert K. Merrill
UNOCAL Corporation
Sugar Land, Texas

Dr. Merrill has over 20 years' experience in international oil and gas exploration with Cities Service Company, Occidental Petroleum; currently he is with Unocal. He received his B.A. from Colby College and his M.S. and Ph.D. in geology from Ari zona State University. During his years as a geologist, he has held several exploration positions in North America, South America, Southeast Asia, and he is currently part of the Unocal Central Asia/Middle East New Ventures Group in Sugar Land, Texas. He has served in various staff positions advising company management. He is a member of the Geological Society of America and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, a Fellow and Chartered Geologist of The Geological Society of London and is 1996 P resident of the American Institute of Professional Geologists. He has also served as that organization's Secretary and Chairman of its National and International Affairs Committee.
