Excel Version of Data

Note:
1. Geoscience represents the total geoscience enrollment population from the data reported by departments in the AGI Directory of Geoscience Departments survey conducted each year. This includes a number of programs which include physical geography, oceanography, and similar non-solid earth sciences.
2. The Soild-Earth numbers represent the long-term trend of enrollments in programs that dominantly teach traditional geology and geophysics programs, and represent a long-term historical comparative line of data to the deeper, pre-oil bust data.

Where are the more recent years?
We have found that there is approximately an 18 month lag-time before enrollment numbers stabilize for a particular year. Though we solicit enrollment data annually, departments are allowed to update their information at any time, and many are unable to give reports for some time after we originally solict. When we feel that the internal data trends have become stable, we will publish the enrollment numbers for the given year. So expect to see 2004 numbers being publish in mid 2006.
